FamTest – How to get there?

MAP

By public transport:

The S4, 154, 157 and 455 bus services all stop at or near Wilson’s School.

By train:

Travel either to Wallington or Waddon main line stations. From Wallington turn right onto Woodcote Road; you can either walk up Woodcote Road and turn left at the traffic lights onto Stafford Road, continuing along to Mollison Drive (about 15 – 20 minutes’ walk) or you can catch a 157 bus in Woodcote Road. From Waddon, turn right out of the station, left into Purley Way, and right at Five Ways into Stafford Road (B271). Proceed to Mollison Drive (about 10 – 15 minutes’ walk).

The Wallington and Waddon trains from Victoria and London Bridge take at least half an hour. You can get a fast train from Victoria (departing every few minutes from the high-numbered platforms on the far right) which will get to East Croydon in ten to fifteen minutes. There is a taxi rank at East Croydon station; alternatively turn right out of the station, cross over George Street, turn left at the junction with Park Lane, walk 100m to the Fairfield Halls and catch a 154 bus at the bus stop in front of the theatre.

By car:

From the West: Wilson’s School is best approached by avoiding the centre of Wallington. Take the main A232 road from Sutton. This passes through Carshalton village and ponds. Continue along this road towards Croydon. Beyond Beddington Park, on the left, you reach a major set of traffic lights. At the Plough Inn, stay in the right hand lane to turn right into Plough Lane. Continue over the railway bridge and down to the traffic lights at the junction of Stafford Road. Wilson’s School is now opposite on the left hand side. Go through the traffic lights into Mollison Drive.

From the East: Wilson’s School is best approached by taking the A232 road for Sutton from Croydon. As you leave Croydon, the road proceeds down Duppas Hill. At its bottom is a junction. The A232 forks to the right by the Waddon public house. The B271 forks left into Stafford Road. Take this left fork and continue along this and the traffic lights at Five Ways. After passing some houses and an office block, you will see the school grounds on the left. Take the next left filter in Mollison Drive, at the traffic lights.

From the South East: From the M23, follow the A23 through Coulsdon and Purley. Follow the road to the Five Ways junction and then turn left at the petrol station into the B271 (Stafford Road). After passing some houses and an office block, you will see the school grounds on the left. Take the next left filter in Mollison Drive, at the traffic lights.

From the South West (M25): Leaving the M25, take the A217 exit at Reigate Hill, and proceed towards Sutton, i.e. turn left at the roundabout on Reigate Hill from the west. Follow the A217 until just beyond Banstead. Here there is a major road junction and the traffic lights have a right filter towards Purley (A2022). Take this right hand filter and follow the road past a small roundabout at the bottom of the hill and a larger one at the top of the hill. Continue on towards Purley. You pass by farms and onto the Oaks. At the next junction there are two roundabouts close to each other. Go straight on at both. Continue on to the next roundabout. Turn left here (A237) towards Wallington. About 700m along this road you will see, by a green, a road called Sandy Lane South, which forks to the right. Take this road and follow it to the traffic lights with Stafford Road. Turn right along Stafford Road. As there is no right turn from Stafford Road into Mollison Drive, turn right into Redford Avenue then left into Link Lane and right into Mollison Drive. The school is on the left.

From the North: Take the A23 Purley Way and turn right at Five Ways, then follow the directions above From the East; or the A237 from Mitcham, turning left where it bisects the A232 beyond Beddington Park; follow the route From the West.
